TeamSafe - The Team Psychological Safety Measurement Tool

Welcome to TeamSafe – Your Tool for Measuring Psychological Safety in Teams

TeamSafe is a psychometric tool designed to measure psychological safety in distributed teams. Psychological safety, as defined by Harvard Business School professor Amy Edmondson, is a shared belief among team members that the team is a safe space for taking interpersonal risks. In practice, this means that team members feel free to ask questions, share ideas, admit mistakes, give and receive feedback, and express differing opinions without fear of negative consequences or rejection. It is a climate of trust, respect, and openness that encourages honesty, learning, and collaboration.

TeamSafe assesses psychological safety across five areas: Honesty, Giving Constructive Feedback, Making Mistakes, Open Communication, and Productive Conflict. The questionnaire consists of 25 statements and takes approximately 5–10 minutes to complete.

Who Is TeamSafe For?

TeamSafe is designed primarily for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and for employees working in distributed teams. The tool is intended for teams whose members collaborate across different locations or combine remote and on-site work, including:

Distributed teams – team members work from different geographical locations and collaborate primarily through online tools.

Hybrid teams – team members combine remote and on-site work.

Remote teams – team members work entirely away from the company’s premises and collaborate remotely.

TeamSafe was developed to assess psychological safety in work environments where communication, trust, openness, and effective collaboration need to be maintained despite physical distance between team members.

If you work primarily individually or in a fully on-site team, you may still complete the questionnaire. However, TeamSafe was not developed specifically for these work contexts, and your results should therefore be interpreted with caution.

Your Results and Privacy

After completing the questionnaire, you will receive free individual feedback on your level of psychological safety in the team you work in.

Your feedback will include your overall psychological safety result as well as your results across the five dimensions of psychological safety: Honesty, Giving Constructive Feedback, Making Mistakes, Open Communication, and Productive Conflict.

Your individual results are private and accessible only to you. Your company and your manager do not have access to the database, your individual responses, or your individual results.

If TeamSafe is being used as part of an assessment conducted within your organisation, your company or manager may receive aggregated results for the team as a whole. Aggregated team results are provided only when at least three members of the team have completed the questionnaire. No individual results or individual responses are shared with your company or manager.

Your name and surname are optional. Basic demographic information, such as age and gender, may be collected to support the future development and refinement of TeamSafe norms.
